Faith's Biography
Faith's Biography

Faith was born into a Zambian family. Her mother and father were keen Christians who loved and served the Lord. Her father pastored a church. Her mother was a ladies conference speaker as well as mother to many young people. Her mother passed away in 2004, leaving a large gap in the family. Faith has seven siblings. All are married except the two youngest who are in college. They all love the Lord Jesus Christ.

Faith left her home in Kitwe to travel 250 miles to Mukinge Hospital to train as a Zambian enrolled nurse. As a student on the paediatric ward, Faith took care of many orphans. It was at this time she felt God speaking to her about taking care of orphans when she graduated. Faith completed her nurses training in 1991 and served one year as a graduate nurse at Mukinge before returning to her home in Kitwe. She then entered midwifery training and graduated.

Mr. Mukumbo Liyena, a fine committed Christian young man, met Faith and asked her to marry him. She told him about her calling of God to care for orphans. When he said that he would help her with the orphans, she consented to marry him.

Mukumbo and Faith now have four children of their own. Mr. Liyena is a an anaesthetist in the Children’s Hospital in Ndola where they make their home.

In 1993, The Faith Orphanage Foundation (FOF) was registered with the Zambian government as a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-denominational Christian organization which seeks to furnish the orphaned children of rural Zambia with the rights of childhood.
